The PR Collective’s Kansas Affiliate On the ‘Spot’ with Earthcomber
Topeka, KS – (November 21, 2005) – The PR Collective’s Affiliate in Kansas, TalonPR, Inc., has been retained by Earthcomber, whose mobile software application connects people with their favorite things using the mobile devices they already carry. TalonPR will promote a new mobile “printing press” technology to the publishing industry and mobile device users alike.
Earthcomber (www.earthcomber.com) offers a mobile publishing platform called “Spot Guides” that enables publishers to put their content onto mobile devices and allows users to find points-of-interest that are near them as they move about. Earthcomber has already partnered with a number of publishers of traditional text and location-based content—including Exxon Mobil's Mobil Travel Guides (the company's first venture into electronic publishing), Avalon Publishing's Moon Metro series, and the Where to Wear insider fashion shopping guides by Fairchild & Gallagher. These works, installed as Earthcomber Spot Guides on Palm OS handheld phones and PDAs, let users customize their interests – and how far to search for each one – and then alert them when they come within a certain distance or nearby any location that has one or more of their personal favorites in food, shopping, public places, natural features, historic sites or private pursuits.
TalonPR has been retained to promote this technology to the publishing industry and the consumer market. The agency will coordinate with the marketing/PR staff at publishing companies to promote their own Spot Guides and coordinate all communications to the media on behalf of Earthcomber—including broadcast, print and online outlets.
