Electric Pocket is a privately held company offering leading-edge mobile and wireless computing applications and solutions from its base in Wye Valley, UK. The Company's product portfolio includes wireless messaging solutions (MMS and email) and a rich set of OEM and consumer-focused applications for wireless PDAs and smartphones. Electric Pocket provides wireless solutions to global companies including Vodafone, Ericsson, Palm and Handspring. The company’s most popular product is BugMe!, a note-taking and reminder system. The Opportunity

Electric Pocket initially retained TalonPR in early 2001.  Though much of the technology sector was in the midst of a downturn, the handheld market remained strong.  At the time, numerous large and small corporations were actually implementing portable computing solutions when many other areas in technology were struggling.  New and existing handheld companies flooded the market with their solutions.  Advertising and other marketing methods proved to be cost prohibitive.

The Solution

TalonPR designed and implemented a media relations campaign for Electric Pocket to strengthen its position as a leading and advanced provider of solutions for owners of Palm Powered devices.  TalonPR publicized several of Electric Pocket’s imminent newsworthy events including the launch of new product and strategic bundling packages.  Talon also identified other upcoming news worthy opportunities within the company and pitched them to the media.  In addition to creating a new press kit, Talon also took existing collateral material and converted it to a media-friendly format helped to develop a reviewer’s guide to entice reporters to cover Electric Pocket and its products.

TalonPR’s efforts have placed Electric Pocket and its products in hundreds of trade journals and on the Web sites of several industry specific news and user groups.  Key placements include:  CBS MarketWatch, Sidney Morning Herald, USAToday.com, Pocket PC Magazine, Stuff Magazine, Field Force Automation, Handheld Computing and ComputerWorld Canada.
